The reserve is divided into multiple tourism zones on both the Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra sides, each presenting different landscapes and wildlife opportunities. From quiet forest tracks to scenic river crossings, every safari showcases a new perspective of this remarkable ecosystem.

While tiger sightings remain a major attraction, Pench is equally celebrated for its fascinating predator-prey interactions. Packs of Wild Dogs on the hunt, Leopards resting in towering trees and herds of herbivores grazing peacefully against a backdrop of golden forests all contribute to an unforgettable safari experience.

Pench Tiger Reserve lies on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra and is named after the Pench River, which flows through the heart of the forest. The reserve is famous for its healthy tiger population, excellent leopard sightings, rich birdlife and beautiful teak forests that inspired Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.
Which is the nearest airport?+
The nearest airports are: • Nagpur (Approx. 2 hours)• Jabalpur (Approx. 4 hours) Nagpur is by far the most convenient airport for most visitors.
Which railway station should we use?+
The most convenient railway stations are: • Nagpur Junction• Seoni• Jabalpur Most guests prefer travelling via Nagpur due to its excellent rail and flight connectivity.
Which gate should we stay near?+
The three main tourism gates are: • Turia (Madhya Pradesh) • Karmajhiri (Madhya Pradesh) • Khursapar (Maharashtra) The best gate depends on your accommodation and safari bookings. We always recommend staying close to the gate from which your safari begins. We shall be assisting you with all the bookings airport to airport.
When is the best time to visit Pench?+
Every season offers a different experience. October to February Pleasant weather, lush forests and comfortable safari conditions. Winter is an excellent time to visit, with tigers remaining surprisingly active throughout the day and superb opportunities for birdwatching. March to June Dry forests and rising temperatures make wildlife easier to spot around water sources. This is one of the best periods for frequent tiger and leopard sightings. July to September The park remains closed during the monsoon as the forest regenerates for the next safari season.
How hot does it get?+
Winter mornings: 6°C to 12°C Winter afternoons: 22°C to 30°C Summer: 32°C to 44°C Winter mornings can feel chilly in the open safari vehicle, while summers are hot and dry.
How many nights do you recommend?+
For first-time visitors, we recommend at least 2 nights with 4 safaris. Wildlife photographers and enthusiasts should consider 3 nights or more to explore different safari zones and enjoy multiple wildlife encounters.
How many safaris should we book?+
Our recommendation is: • Minimum: 4 safaris • Ideal: 5 to 6 safaris Each safari offers completely different sightings, making every drive unique.
Are tiger sightings guaranteed?+
No. Tigers are wild animals, and no sighting can ever be guaranteed. Every safari unfolds differently, and often the most memorable moments involve many other fascinating species.
What are the chances of seeing a tiger?+
Pench enjoys one of the highest tiger sighting success rates in India. Unlike many parks, tigers in Pench often remain active even during the cooler winter months, making it an excellent destination throughout the safari season.
Which safari zone is the best?+
The main tourism zones include: • Turia • Karmajhiri • Jamtara • Buffers like Telia and Rukhad • Sillari • Khursapar Every zone has its own unique landscapes and resident wildlife. Rather than chasing a single "best" zone, we recommend experiencing different parts of the reserve whenever possible.
How early should we book?+
Safari permits are limited and highly sought after. For weekends, holidays and the winter season, we recommend booking 4 months in advance.
What documents do we need?+
Please carry the original government-issued photo ID used while booking your safari. International guests must carry their passport.
What should we wear?+
Neutral colours work best. We recommend olive, brown, khaki, beige or grey. Layer your clothing during winter, as mornings can be cold while afternoons warm up pleasantly.
What should we pack?+

What wildlife can we expect besides tigers?+
Pench offers exceptional wildlife diversity. Keep an eye out for: • Leopards • Indian Gaur • Wild Dogs (Dholes) • Sambar • Chital • Barking Deer • Nilgai • Jackals • More than 300 species of birds Pench has earned a reputation as one of India's finest parks for leopard sightings, and these elusive cats are seen here with remarkable regularity.
What time do safaris begin?+
There are two safaris every day. • Morning Safari (5 to 6 hours) • Afternoon Safari (3 to 3.5 hours) Safari timings vary through the year depending on sunrise and sunset.
Can we bring our cameras?+
Absolutely. Pench is one of India's finest destinations for wildlife photography, offering beautiful light, open forests and excellent opportunities to photograph both tigers and leopards. Don't forget extra batteries and memory cards.
Is Pench suitable for children and senior citizens?+
Yes. Pench is ideal for families as well as senior travellers. Guests should be comfortable sitting in an open safari vehicle for approximately four hours.
Is there mobile network inside the park?+
Mobile coverage is limited inside the reserve. Most lodges offer reasonable connectivity, but once inside the forest, your attention naturally shifts to the wilderness around you.
Can we get out of the safari vehicle?+
No. Guests must remain inside the safari vehicle throughout the drive unless instructed otherwise by Forest Department officials.
What if we don't see a tiger?+
You'll still have experienced one of Central India's most rewarding forests. A leopard resting on a rocky hill, a pack of dholes on the hunt, giant gaur emerging from the teak forest or the unmistakable call of a crested serpent eagle can make for an unforgettable safari. Every drive tells a different story.
Are mobile phones allowed on safari?+
No. You can either leave them at the resort or keep them in the locker provided by the Forest Department. The locker remains with your safari vehicle throughout the drive.
Any final advice?+
Come with curiosity rather than expectations. Listen to the alarm calls, enjoy the incredible birdlife, watch the forest slowly awaken and trust your naturalist. Pench is a reserve that rewards patience, and often its greatest moments arrive when you least expect them.
