Our Story | A Legacy Beyond Generations
Three generations. One enduring passion. A lifetime devoted to the wild.
Some passions are discovered. Others are inherited, nurtured and passed down through generations. At Beyond Wild, our story is one of the latter. It is a story of three generations, Bapu (Shridhar Mahajan), Dr Parag and Mihir, bound by a shared love for the natural world and a belief that the wilderness has a way of changing the way we see life.
What began with a deep-rooted fascination for nature has grown into a journey that spans generations. Bapu laid the foundations of a legacy built on curiosity, respect for nature and a genuine appreciation of the world around us. Parag carried that spirit forward, bringing his own experiences and vision to the journey. Today, Mihir, ably supported by Camilla and the team, continues to build upon these foundations, taking Beyond Wild to new landscapes, distant wildernesses and experiences across the globe. Each generation has brought its own perspective, yet the essence of what binds us remains unchanged.
For us, wildlife has never been merely about sightings or destinations. It is about the silence of a forest at first light, the distant alarm call that sets the heart racing, the patience of waiting for a tiger to emerge from the bamboo, and the extraordinary privilege of witnessing nature unfold on its own terms. It is about the people we meet, the friendships we forge and the memories that stay with us long after a journey has ended.
Over the years, this shared passion has brought together a team of dedicated naturalists, explorers and travel professionals who believe in much more than simply organising journeys. We believe in creating experiences that are personal, thoughtful and deeply connected to the places we visit. Whether deep in India's tiger country, beneath the vast skies of Africa or in the remote mountains of the Himalaya, we strive to bring our guests closer to the natural world, while respecting the wilderness that makes these encounters possible.
Beyond Wild is, in many ways, an extension of our family. Every journey carries a little of our history, a great deal of our passion and the collective experience of the people who make it possible. We take pride in the smallest details, the warmth of a familiar welcome, the knowledge of a seasoned naturalist and the joy of sharing an unexpected moment in the wild.
As we look ahead, our ambition is not simply to travel farther or explore more. It is to preserve the spirit with which this journey began, to keep discovering, keep learning and continue sharing the wonders of the natural world with those who feel the same calling.
Three generations have shaped our story, but the wilderness remains its greatest teacher. And as long as there are forests to explore and stories to discover, our journey will continue.
Beyond Wild. A legacy carried forward, one wilderness at a time.
A real naturalist on every departure — never a driver handed a guidebook. Their knowledge is the difference between a drive and an experience.
We tell you what you'll realistically see and when. No guaranteed-sighting promises — just the best odds, explained plainly.
The ethos the whole company is built on. Details matter, and we go out of our way so there's little left to complain about.
Six guests per gypsy, or four for more room and better camera angles. Enough company to be fun, small enough to be personal.
We organise tours to unexplored, unspoiled places and share the stories tucked inside them — with respect for the wild and its people.
From the first call to the last campfire, the warmth our team brings is the thing guests remember most.
From Bapu — our ‘Walking Encyclopedia of Nature’ — to Dr. Parag, Mihir and Camilla, our guides bring decades of on-field experience and first-hand knowledge of leading wildlife camps and tours. They are the reason for our growing success.
Tell us what you'd love to see — we'll build a trip around it.
