This explains what personal information Beyond Wild collects when you use this website or plan a trip with us, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, for visitors from the EU, EEA and UK, the GDPR.

What we collect

• What you tell us. When you send an enquiry, fill in the trip planner or the contact form, or write to us: your name, email and/or phone or WhatsApp number, where you are based, your travel dates, the number of travellers, the kind of trip you want, how you heard about us, and anything else you choose to write.
• What we need to deliver a trip. Once you travel with us: the names and ID details that park authorities require for safari permits, and any dietary or medical needs you share so that lodges can prepare.
• Technical information. Your IP address is recorded briefly when you submit a form, so we can block automated spam. With your consent only, analytics records which pages are visited (see Cookies, below).

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry, prepare a proposal and plan and run your trip.
• To send the emails you would expect: confirming your enquiry, and sending your proposal.
• To send our newsletter, only if you sign up for it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
• To understand how the website is used and improve it, only if you accept analytics cookies.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for any purpose you have not been told about here.

Who we share it with

• The people who deliver your trip: lodges, transport providers, naturalists and the forest department, and only what they need (for example, names for permits).
• Service providers who process data for us: Mailjet (sending our emails), Mailchimp (our newsletter) and Google (website analytics, maps and fonts). Some of these store data outside India, including in the EU and the United States.
• Authorities, where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it to answer your enquiry, plan and deliver your trip, and deal with anything that follows from it. Records that tax and accounting law require us to keep are held for as long as that law says. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see below).

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
• correct or complete it;
• delete it, unless we have to keep it by law;
• stop using it for anything you consented to, such as the newsletter or analytics. Withdrawing consent does not affect what was done before you withdrew it.

If you are in the EU, EEA or UK you also have the right to restrict or object to our use of your data, to receive it in a portable format, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We use your data because you asked us to plan a trip (taking steps towards a contract), and on the basis of your consent for newsletters and analytics.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept optional cookies. Nothing optional runs until you choose, and choosing “Necessary only” is as simple as accepting.

• Necessary (always on): your cookie choice itself, stored in your browser so we do not ask again.
• Analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which count visits and show which pages are useful. They set cookies whose names start with _ga.
• Newsletter (only if you accept): Mailchimp’s sign-up form, which remembers whether you have already seen or closed it.
• Map (only if you accept, or press “Show the map”): the Google Maps map on our contact page, which Google may use to set its own cookies.

Videos are loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, and only when you press play. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them. You can change your cookie choice at any time using the button below or the “Cookie settings” link at the foot of every page.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
