The trip

Some wildlife experiences leave you with wonderful photographs. Others stay with you for a lifetime.

Some wildlife experiences leave you with wonderful photographs. Others stay with you for a lifetime.

Coming face to face with a wild Mountain Gorilla is one of those rare moments that is impossible to describe until you experience it yourself. Deep within the ancient rainforests of Uganda, these gentle giants live much as they always have, hidden amongst towering trees, tangled vines and emerald-green hills that seem untouched by time.

This journey is far more than a gorilla trek. Travelling through the spectacular landscapes of southwestern Uganda, you'll discover mist-covered volcanoes, lush tea plantations, mountain forests and tranquil lakes that together create one of Africa's most beautiful regions. Every day offers a different perspective, from scenic mountain drives and village encounters to peaceful boat rides and unforgettable walks through pristine rainforest.

The highlight, of course, is spending a precious hour with one of the habituated Gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Watching a silverback quietly observing his family, playful youngsters tumbling through the undergrowth and mothers caring for their infants is an emotional experience that very few wildlife encounters can equal.

Designed at a relaxed pace, this itinerary allows you to fully appreciate both the remarkable wildlife and the breathtaking scenery that make Uganda one of Africa's most rewarding safari destinations.
