It is late evening in the dense Tiwas (Ougeinia dalbergiaoides) and Tendu (Diospyros melanoxylon) woods next to our camp. As the sun sets and the birds fly back while we drive our way back to the camp, we spot spots on the last bend before we approach the camp. A huge male leopard scurries into the bush from where darkness is absolute and the woods beyond are never-ending. With adrenaline surging through our bodies and our minds triumphant after the happenings of these few seconds, we return back to the tranquil camp set deep inside the core. The steaming hot cup of chai on evenings like these is nostalgic.

What to expect?

This four-safari experience takes you into the heart of Nagzira where there is an old and basic forest department rest house, a place where many of our most exciting tales from the wild originate! This rest house and the lush, wooded areas around it are home to a staggeringly healthy population of leopards, one of the best in the country and sightings of this dappled predator have been uncannily good these last few years. With the help of our brilliant trackers and local forest folk, we shall do our best to track these brazen beauties. A sight of a leopard walking regally in the afternoon sun as the dense jungles around reverberate with the alarm calls of the prey species is an experience so very unique to this jungle. The leopard rules here and how! Along with the leopard, Nagzira houses a very good number of wild dogs and sloth bears and both these mammals are seen frequently. The many streams and ponds in Nagzira are full of bird life and fish eagles, orioles, drongos, minivets and owls are seen in plenty!

The standout feature of this camp is definitely the part where we stay in the core and immerse ourselves in an intense and raw experience. This intimate involvement with nature is something you shall cherish forever.
